The Wrong Side of Right by Jenn Marie Thorne

Fans of Sarah Dessen and Huntley Fitzpatrick will enjoy this smart debut young adult novel, equal parts My Life Next Door and The Princess Diaries—plus a dash of Aaron Sorkin.

My reaction after I finished the book.

This book is overall a content read for me. I feel as if I did not connect to the book well enough.

– a good,strong romance

-rebellious moments

-Andy as a bad-boy character

-Kate’s growing relationship with her father little-by-little

-a realistic political plot

-cry-hard moments

-okay writing

-good writing

-cute relationship (weird relationship)

-Andy (a goofy character)

-amazing mother-daughter connection

-realistic politics

-boring plot

-a lot of the wrapping up of the book being pushed to the end

The love story between Kate and Andy did not click with me at all. I felt as if it were a childish, i like you relationship. And what annoyed me the most was the fact that the two kept repetitively, recieting how they hated the media. Like we get it, you Drama Queens. Now, move on from the topic. But I did like the cute, quirky part of the relationship. How he called her every night, him wanting to sneak out, and their goofy talks.

In my opinion, I found that Andy’s character was more like a jokster rather than a rebel. For instance, when he faked being drunk at one of the presidential events, haha, funny. (Comment c’est rebellious???) (how is that rebellious???)

WHAT I ENJOYED a lot was Kate’s character (love her) and the relationship that begun to grew with her and her new family. It really touched the heart and the writing was delightful to read. Throughout the novel, we see Meg getting to know Kate and really connecting with her, it was great. They really felt just like mother-daughter moments.

OVERALL, the writing and the relationship with Kate and her new family (Gabe-love him, Gracie-evil cutie, Queen MEG, Senator Mark) were exceptional. I recommend this novel to those who enjoy a plot filled with politics and new-found family drama.

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

J’adore ce livre. This whole entire series is amazing. i love the coming of age story and America’s independence throughout the book. This is an easy book to get into and is a fast read, it took me about 12 hours – 1 day to finish the series. a75b525fb8cafadc26e00868257ae1bc BREIF SUMMARY: This book is a Dystopian, Y.A., Chick-Lit, Fantasy and Sci-Fi book. This series is set after world war 4, I believe, in a country named illea. The government is a monarchy and citizens are divided into caste. The range of castes is between 1-8, the lower the number the better. These castes were decided by what citizens were able to offer in a War, a while back. For 35 girls, the SELECTION is the chance of a lifetime, this could change the lives of their family and theirs forever. They could go from rags to riches, a chance they’ve been waiting for since birth. All they have to do is compete for the heart of Prince Maxon… For America the SELECTION is by far the worst thing that has happen to her. It would mean leaving her family and the person she loves, Aspen. Soon, America has met Prince Maxon and is questioning herself. It seems the future she’s dreamed of may be nothing like she’s ever imagined.

MY THOUGHTS *SPOLIERS*: I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now and now that I have, I am in AWE AND I LOVE IT. I could easily say I like Maxon more than Aspen in the book. At first I thought Aspen was withAmerica for the physical aspect of their relationship, since we didn’t really see his relationship with America in the book. To me, America’s relationship with Maxon sort of grew with me. America and Maxon leaned against each other through the book, making them the perfect pair. At times, when they fought I WAS FREAKING OUT, I couldn’t bare to turn to the next page. Then Aspen came along and it just messed everything up, you know? America feelings were everywhere at that point, and she had to figure out where she would want to go from there. BUT SERIOUSLY ASPEN, he dumped her for the sake of her own, then they meet once again in the palace and he wants her back, NO, JUST NO. IT IS 0-V-E-R, over. And then they made out, IT’s ILLEGAL seriously if you care about her STOP. IMG_4725Prince Maxon trying to woo America over, was the end of me. I just loved the little things he did for her, from sending little notes to showing her the incredible library. It showed that he really understood her and wanted to fight for her. BTW, I LOVED THAT THE KING DIED, not the queen though. Either way I knew in the end, all would end well.

America’s Friends:

Celeste: At first I down right hated her and wished she would get knocked out by someone (thank you America). But as the series progresses I see humanity in her and I end up liking her over Kira.

Kira: The princes 2nd choice. I DID not like her for the obvious reasons. one-2

Marlee: MY LOVE. She is an amazing friend to America and it hurt when reading about Marlee and Carter getting canned. It was heart breaking for me to read, since Mer and Marlee are close, and the same thing could end up happening to Mer and Aspen.

The maids, Anne, Lucy, and Mary: I love their friendliness toward America, it is a genuine kind of feeling, one that is hard to find.  America brings life into their world and they return the favour, without them I think America wouldn’t have been able to last in the selection. It shows character the way that America stands up for the maids, which is mind altering in a good way. 🙂 tumblr_n4lskkYPmS1s3ja0uo1_500

Tessa soon face the facts that they both like each other and takes a chance with a possible relationship with this doctor. There relationship soon heats up and is goes at a pretty fast pace.. then things go down hill from there that surprises them both. Is this what Nessa really wants?

SPIRAL wowed me. I started this book not really knowing what to expect. I have not read a book similar to this book before. In this book the main male lead has a disorder, he is bipolar. Since I’m not use to the behaviour of bipolar people, the content in this book really got to me. It confused me, but at the same time felt the sense of warmth throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. When reading the book it really played with my emotions and I thought it was beautiful.

3 words to describe this book.

Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Elliot

I really enjoyed this book A LOT. I enjoyed the perkiness in this book, it wasn’t too over done. I liked how Anne Eliot tried something new and different compared to oher novels! This is one of the romance/contemporary book that stands out to me. Great job Anne Eliot. The only criticism that I have is that Hunter’s personality changed when it was in his POV or Vere’s. This book is a rich-boy meets normal girl type of book.

SYNOPSIS VIA GOODREADS After a car accident–an event he considers a prank gone bad–pop star, Hunter Kennedy is forced to hide out with his aunt in small-town Colorado. He’s supposed to rest, heal his scars and attend high school in disguise until the press dies down. But he only wants to get back to work. Worse, the girl who’s been assigned to make him over into a geek is a major geek herself. Vere Roth is a chattering pixie, a blushing tornado and a complete social disaster. He’s never met a girl who’s never-been-kissed, believes in romance and thinks Hunter’s a ‘nice’ guy. Funny thing is…Hunter is nice around Vere because she’s his first real friend. He also can’t seem to stop sharing his secrets or keep her out of his heart. Knowing he’d never deserve a girl as sweet as Vere, he resigns himself to the friend zone, and helps his new bestie with her own makeover. She tortures him daily for ridiculous guy advice on how to snag her life-long crush. A guy Hunter thinks is totally wrong for Vere, and sadly, one who has taken note of Vere’s transformation. When Vere asks her best friend for some kissing advice, Hunter can’t resist… And that’s when things get out of control… High School Romance, first love, sweet romance

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance book.

PAPER TOWNS by John Green

Paper Towns is a book by John Green. John Green has written many books, such as The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska, and An Abundance of Katherine’s. Paper Towns book was published in 2004! Also, there will be a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE of this book coming in 2015! 🙂

A guy named “Quentin,” has spent his yearwpid-b2d43c325d34e79324780e7542f2ee64s loving Margo Roth from afar. From afar, I mean he is her neighbour and he has a little thing for her. She is the girl every girl wishes to be, she is adventurous, beautiful, and popular. What more is there to it? One night, Margo cracks open his window and orders Quentin to drive her around, so she can seek her revenge. After the night of mind capturing adventure, Q arrives to school hoping for something more with Margo… But what he discovers it that Margo has become a mystery. She has run away and she has left clues for Q to find her. Therefore, it is up to him to find out where she is. This novel is SPECTACULAR. It shows Quentin what life is outside of his box…tumblr_n3ts533BPC1qzfyg1o1_500

SPOILER SECTION: The beginning of the book held a lot of excitement and adventure as Margo and Q scoured through the town. From buying fish at Walmart at 1am to shaving off someones eyebrow at 4am. When Margo entered Q’s bedroom window, I thought “um, okay. Yes, climb through your neighbour’s window and ask a guy who you barely talk to, to drive you around at 1am?” WEIRD. LIKE WHAT?? So they drive around the town and break into houses (somewhat) and into amusement parks. (What I was thinking was how did Margo know how to and was able to?) After that night, Margo goes missing/she ran away from home. Quentin sees the clues she left behind for him, so he can try to find her. So, he spent his whole last month of school (senior year) searching for Margo. Lacey, Ben, and Q, then embark on a road trip to NY to find Margo. Q realizes that searching for Margo has been the most fun he’s ever had, since Margo and him found that dead body when they were kids… This novel is SPECTACULAR. It shows Quentin what life is outside of his box… It was a great read, that opens your mind to finding joy in your life. BTW. I AM A NERDFIGHTER PEOPLE. THUMBS UP IF YOU ARE TOO.

The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen

This book is about 2 teens and their dark stories that will shake you. Kayden and Callie, trust no one.  That all changes when they make a mark in each other’s lives and they reluctantly bump into one another… can they help each other to over come their dark past?

  • At the start of the book I did not like Kayden’s attitude it was a bit childish??
  • I did not enjoy Callie’s family at all. The book did not give a good amount of detail about her family and why she could not tell them about her problem. It was annoying to read about all the families in this book, since all the parents were all conceited and arrogant. Throughout the book I felt as if NO ONE in the book had a proper family. All the ideas were scattered everywhere and the author gave bit’s and pieces about the family members. ~Hayden’s mom is crazy, Callie’s mom is I don’t even know how to explain it, and Callie’s dad is blindsided.~
  • Callie’s relationship with Kayden however I enjoyed, it Screen Shot 2013-12-31 at 7.18.42 PMwas cute

Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick (HUSH, HUSH FANS)

This was an okay read. The book leaves you wanting more, even if you are FREAKING out from the thriller. It was interesting to see how a good guy turned into the criminal. After reading this book it left me thinking… Jude oh Jude.

This book is about 2 girls who decide to go on a hiking trip for spring break. Instead of an ordinary spring break they expect to have. A blizzard forces them to abandon their car, to find the nearest shelter. They accept the hospitality of 2 handsome men who turn out to be fugitives and take the 2 girls hostage.  While being kidnapped 1 of the girls, Britt begins to fall in love with her capturer.

Bad points about the book:

  • Britt was stupid
  • Why did they leave the car to head into the woods??
  • And yes, leave the food there too
  • Didn’t Britt train for the trip? How come she didn’t use any skills she acquired from training TO SURVIVE?
  • She trusted 2 men she did not know.
  • The book was so predictable
  • at the beginning of the book I knew calvin was the killer (IT WAS OBVIOUS)
  • She had weird second thoughts on everything “Mason is my capturer, but I like him. No, I don’t and blah, blah blah.”
  • Korbie was not her best friend but her sister? like what?
  • Korbie is mental in my head “Yes, Britt. Calvin is helping you by hurting you, trust him.” UM, NOOO. YOU PHYCO.
